About PNG NAQIA
The National Agriculture Quarantine and Inspection Authority (NAQIA) is a statutory body of government within the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, providing biosecurity services focused towards minimizing the risks of introduction, establishment and spread of regulated pests and diseases affecting animals and plant health and including those that consequentially affect human, environment and the economy. Its other equally important function is trade facilitation of products that are of animal and plant origin where it ensures that imports of these products pose minimum risks to PNG’s biodiversity, and concurrently provides assurances to the importing country these products (such as agricultural, fisheries and forestry commodities) meets its biosecurity protocols and therefore able to access the market.
The NAQIA Graduate Cadet Program
In the light of this, career prospects are available for recent University Graduates from 2019, 2020, & 2021 of Papua New Guinea Nationality to join the NAQIA Graduate Cadet Program.
This is very intensive program which runs for twenty-four (24) months and aims to train and develop young graduates in:
- Agriculture Science
- Food Technology
- Marine Science
- Animal Health Science
- Plant Health Science
- Forestry
To be observed into NAQIA’s core biosecurity, quarantine and inspections functions as mandated by the NAQIA Act.
