PNG Dept of Labour and Industrial Relations Independent Fellowship Scheme

The independent Fellowship Scheme wishes to advise all interested applicants that applications for 2021 for Skills Training Scholarship is now open.

The Independent Fellowship Scheme (IFS) is aimed at helping the underprivileged Papua New Guineans with existing projects in rural areas who wish to further their knowledge for the betterment of their livelihoods in the community.

Objectives of the Scheme

Our objective is to help the youth from rural areas to gain skills and knowledge required for sustainable development in the community.

Key Objectives

  • To promote participation in economic and community development by specifically enhancing rural-based projects in the communities .
  • To align itself with PNG Vision 2050 Directives under the MTDP to human capital development.

Purpose

Empowering rural Papua New Guineans through skills training programs to drive community development initiatives in the rural areas of PNG.

The following training courses are available for 2021:

  • Fishing
  • Tourism & Hospitality
  • Metal Fabrication & Welding
  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Motor Vehicle Mechanic
  • Small Business Management
  • Early Childhood Training
